This 68 unit development was completed for G & T. Crampton Ltd. The established pattern of development in this inner suburb was of large 3-storey late-Victorian houses. The idiom was modern, but designed to strike up a sensitive relationship with the surroundings, of materials and in its massing.
In response to particular site conditions and in order to achieve a suitable mix of dwelling types, some direct-entry units were designed which consisted of three bedroom duplexes over one bedroom flats, a format that was much copied by other developers. However, here, site levels were carefully adjusted to minimize the flight of stairs to the front door of the duplexes.
TYPOLOGY: 1-bed & 2-bed flats; 3-bed duplexes over 1-bed flats with individual entry.
