Shankill House is a protected structure on Ferndale Road, which would have sat on substantial grounds, and dates from the early to mid-19th century.

We designed a 2-storey, 3500sq.m nursing home which would sit into the contoured landscape and have minimal impact on the existing protected structure.

Accommodation consisted of78-bed spaces along with numerous living and dining spaces, and ancillary service areas.

The private rooms were planned so as to take advantage of natural light and aspect, with many clustered around landscaped courtyard spaces.

One of these courtyards is designed as a sensory garden, with elements offering residents valued experiences of touch, sound and texture
