Our client operates a busy carpet and interiors store, but is seeking to expand to create a "one-stop-shop" for all things interiors: it is intended that customers can visit their architect or interior designer, and shop for their kitchen and light fittings, perhaps take a break for coffee, all within the same complex. MK Interiors will naturally be the anchor retailer.

The scheme is designed to be complimentary to the adjoining proposed shopping and village centre, but will create its own strong identity. The long narrow site is split both in plan and vertically, but tied by open bridges and terraces, to draw the movement of people into and through the development, and to encourage shoppers vertically to the upper levels.

Materials and detailing will be muted and simple, leaving the large expanses of glazing to announce and exhibit the various products on offer.
